More DetailsLocal Colors has been championing ethnic diversity for over 30 years. Founder Pearl Fu established the organization from a small event in 1991 representing four countries with the vision that every ethnicity in Roanoke Valley should be valued. Since then, Local Colors has grown to be the premier multicultural program in the Roanoke Valley. Our Local Colors Festival highlights cultures from around the world every third Saturday of May, with over 50 nationalities represented.
Throughout the rest of the year, you can catch other events such as our Hispanic Heritage Month and Lunar New Year celebrations. We also work with schools, universities, local government, community organizations, and businesses to build cultural trust, understanding, and awareness throughout our region.
